Grandma’s Rug Dolls
The permanent collection, idea of Jenny Kostadinova, shows the beauty and colour of the traditional Bulgarian village.These dolls, pleasing to the eye with their simplicity and cheerful colours, spread the ethos of the grandma’s house. Their dresses present the patterns of Bulgarian traditional rug – a whole array of colours and hues. This new, original souvenir is made of woolen threads on wooden structure. Grandma’s rug dolls can be purchased but you can make one yourself.

On the 1st Oct, 2013, the museum opened a permanent collection “Traditional Bulgarian Dolls”. The collection consists of more than 300 dolls and was built up over half century by Vassily Gordienko (1930-2012).
